CHRISTOPHER HUGH RIPMAN, RA, LEED AP
President and Principal Consultant

Chris Ripman founded Ripman Lighting Consultants in 1978.  During his 34 years of professional practice, Chris has designed the lighting of over 4,000 projects.  Ripman Lighting Consultants has won over 100 IIDA awards, six Edwin F. Guth Awards of Merit, two General Electric Edison Awards of Merit, and the IALD Award of Excellence for lighting design.  In May of 2000, Chris was presented the Illuminating Engineering Society’s Regional Technical Award in recognition of long-standing meritorious technical achievement.

Chris is a registered architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, a Corporate Member of the IALD and an Affiliate Member of the IES.  He has lectured at Harvard, MIT, the Boston Architectural Center, and for numerous IES, IBD, ASID, and other functions, including Light Fair.  Chris received his Master of Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1974 and his Bachelor of Arts Magna Cum Laude in Economics from Harvard in 1970.

CHARLIE WALSH
Project Manager

Charlie Walsh holds a certificate in Illumination Engineering from the University of New Hampshire, as well as a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Northern Arizona University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.  His background includes work in the aerospace, equipment manufacturing, and motion picture industries.Since joining RLC in 1999, Charlie’s work has encompassed a variety of residential, institutional and commercial projects.  Current and recently completed projects include four major residences, videoconferencing classrooms and corporate videoteleconferencing rooms, two MBTA stations, a museum, an outdoor amphitheatre park, historic building interiors and exteriors, a shopping mall, a university science building and parking garage, a sculpture plaza, a sports facility, corporate offices in both new and historic buildings, and landscaped gardens, both public and private.Charlie is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and the Designer’s Lighting Forum.

CLYDE ROBINSON, LC
Project Manager

Clyde Robinson has always had a passion for light, especially in the design of performance venues, religious and museum spaces. His interest in lighting started while he was studying theater arts at Salem State College. He went on to design lighting for plays, musicals, operas, and ballets. After five years experience in architecture working on project teams at HMFH, he spent five years at Berg Howland designing lighting for institutional projects including museums, churches, and universities. Several of his projects were recognized by awards from the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA). He joined RLC in 2005.

Clyde received his LC certification in 2004 and is a member of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America and the Designers Lighting Forum.
